Ankle brace Bauerfeind MalleoLoc L - Orthosis for lateral stabilization of the ankle
MalleoLoc L laterally stabilizes the upper and lower ankle in the shoe. The orthosis is particularly flat and fits therefore also in everyday shoes. Its L-shaped shell lies laterally on the lower leg, runs in front of the outer ankle and extends over the talus. It is fixed by two inelastic Velcro straps on the lower leg and foot. The straps run around both the lower leg and in a kind of eight-way around the foot and lower leg.
The laterally stabilizing construction counteracts the advancement of the talus, protects against supination trauma, relieves the pressure on the lateral capsular ligaments and supports conservative and postoperative therapy. The orthosis keeps the foot in neutral position, bringing the ankle into a bony secured position. The natural rolling process of the foot is not restricted. Optionally, a small plantar pelotte may be nested on the midfoot to stimulate the foot muscles when walking. This positively affects sensomotor function, contributing to active, neuromuscular stabilization.
The lightweight plastic shell of the MalleoLoc L is anatomically preformed and can be thermoformed if necessary. It has a soft inner pad with easy-care microfibre cover. The orthosis is offered in a universal size for the right and left foot.
